In a significant development, security forces in Dantewada district reported the neutralization of three Maoists during a confrontation in the jungle area, accompanied by the seizure of a substantial quantity of explosives, according to police reports.
The security forces, in response to a series of recent IED blasts and ambushes resulting in casualties among jawans, escalated their anti-Maoist operations. The intensified efforts followed directives from Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, aiming to counter the escalating Maoist threats. Despite several encounters, authorities failed to apprehend any insurgents until this operation.
A joint team comprising Bastar Fighters and District Reserve Guards embarked on a search operation from the Tumakpal camp in Katekalyan. Encountering a group of Maoists near Dabbakunna village, situated on the Dantewada-Sukma border around 5:30 pm, a gunfight ensued between the forces and the insurgents.
Following the clash and the Maoists’ retreat, a subsequent search in the area led to the discovery of three bodies clad in PLGA (People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army) uniform. Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai confirmed that the identities of the deceased Maoists are yet to be established.
The security forces remain stationed at the site, facing communication challenges due to poor network connectivity. The ongoing search operation, now reinforced by central forces, continues in the area.
The successful operation marks a significant development in the efforts to curb Maoist activities in the region, underscoring the resolve of the security forces to maintain peace and stability in the Dantewada district.
