Vivo has recently launched its latest smartphone, the Vivo V27 Pro, in India. This model comes as a successor to the Vivo V25 Pro, boasting several upgrades, including a 120Hz refresh rate, a better chipset, and an improved camera setup. With its design and specifications, Vivo aims to cater to the premium mid-range market in India. So, does the Vivo V27 Pro have what it takes to shake up the competition in this segment? In this article, we will review all the aspects of the Vivo V27 Pro and find out if it’s worth buying.
Pricing and Design
The Vivo V27 Pro comes in three variants with the base 8GB/128GB model starting at Rs 37,999. The other two variants are 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB, priced at Rs 39,999 and Rs 42,999, respectively. The phone features a sleek design with a curved screen and a colour changing glass back panel, available in Magic Blue and Noble Black colour options. The curved AMOLED display is protected by Gorilla Glass, and the plastic frame with a gloss finish holds the power and volume buttons on the right side. Overall, the Vivo V27 Pro looks elegant and stylish, but the build quality is not the best in its class.
Display
The Vivo V27 Pro sports a 6.78-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, which can be set on 60Hz, 120Hz, or on Auto (Smart Switch). The touch sampling rate maxes out at 240Hz. The panel supports Widevine L1 certification and HDR10+ for watching content in high definition. The display boasts thin bezels, providing maximum screen real estate. It also has a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and is easily visible in bright sunlight. Although the display isn’t the best in its class, it is still quite good and gets extra points for its curvature.
Performance
The Vivo V27 Pro is powered by a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone also uses the Mali-G610 MC6, which rivals the Adreno 730 GPU on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The performance here is impressive and can handle any game you throw at it on high graphics. The phone scored 1199 points in Geekbench 6 for single-core and 3462 points for multi-core. It also managed an overall AnTuTu score of 841,741 points. The performance rivals that of the phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.
Camera
The Vivo V27 Pro features a triple-camera setup on the back, led by a 50 MP Sony IMX766V sensor with OIS. It is paired with an 8 MP ultrawide unit and a 2 MP macro lens. There’s also a 50 MP selfie camera on the front. Vivo has replaced the traditional LED flash with a ring-shaped Aura LED light. The camera captures detailed images in daylight and good consistency but generates softer and less detailed images in the ultrawide mode. In low light, night mode brightens images and cleans up noise. The front camera captures sharp and detailed images in daylight, and there’s also a 50 MP mode for the front camera.
Battery
The Vivo V27 Pro is equipped with a 4,600 mAh battery, which is smaller than the standard 5,000 mAh cell we see on most smartphones in this range. However, the battery life is more
