Bhubaneswar (Odisha) : Odisha Health Minister Naba Das, who was shot at on January 28, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
According to the police, the incident took place when the minister was returning home after attending an event in his constituency. Das was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, expressed his condolences on the death of Das and announced a three-day state mourning.
“I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Health Minister Naba Das. He was a dedicated leader and had been serving the people of Odisha with utmost sincerity. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” Patnaik said in a statement.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves across the state and political leaders have condemned the attack.
