The Director General of Police of Chhattisgarh, Ashok Juneja, has written a letter to the Director General of NIA, requesting an inquiry into the murder of three people’s representatives in Bastar. According to Juneja’s letter, the Naxalites are targeting public representatives and common citizens in their fury due to the continuous shrinking of the Maoists’ territory. He further mentioned the success in eradicating Naxalism in the past years due to the efforts of the Central Security Force and the State Police.
Last week, three people’s representatives were murdered in Bastar, and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed concern over the incident. The BJP has been demanding a probe into the matter, and recently, BJP MP Arun Saw raised the issue in the Lok Sabha. The Chief Minister had condemned the incident and stated that the Maoists are carrying out such desperate acts as their territory is continuously shrinking. In response to the incident, the SP called a meeting of the people’s representatives of the Naxal area on the Chief Minister’s instructions.
