The first convocation ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur will be held on March 7, 2023. The Chief Guest of the convocation ceremony will be Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of Health and Family Welfare. A total of 850 students will be awarded degrees, including 10 students who will receive gold medals. Prior to the convocation ceremony, AIIMS Raipur is also organizing an alumni meet on March 6 for former students. Special guests invited to the convocation include Sunil Soni, MP from Raipur, Arun Sahu, MP from Bilaspur, and Saroj Pandey, Rajya Sabha MP from Durg.
In a press conference held to announce the convocation ceremony, Director Professor Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar stated that degrees will be awarded to 425 MBBS students from five batches (2012-16), 292 BSc Nursing students from five batches (2013-17), 120 MD/MS students, eight MSC Nursing students, and five Master of Public Health students.
Academic Advisor Professor Alok Chandra Agrawal stated that the first batch was admitted to AIIMS after its establishment in 2012, with an intake of only 50 students. The number of seats has now increased to 125, and after the addition of MD/MS and MDS seats, AIIMS Raipur now has a total of 157 seats per year. Additionally, AIIMS Raipur is planning to add more super-specialty courses to meet the growing demand for medical education.
