According to the information received by the police on March 21st, two individuals were carrying bags of marijuana near Gandhi Garden located in the Civil Lines area and were looking for customers to sell it to. A team from the Civil Lines police station went to the Gandhi Garden and identified the individuals mentioned in the report, and two people on a bike were caught.
During interrogation, the individuals identified themselves as Nutan Meher (age 25) and Nibas Meher (age 20), sons of Soumitri Meher and Devesh Meher respectively, from Sakinanan Baunsunee Dimaripali district, Odisha. The police team found two kilograms of marijuana in the bags carried by the suspects.
During the investigation, it was found that the suspects had no valid documents related to the possession of marijuana, and they were misleading the police. The seized marijuana is valued at around 20,000 rupees and the bike used in the incident is valued at around 50,000 rupees. The police have registered a case against the suspects under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and taken appropriate action against them.
