A tragic incident occurred on Monday as Naxalites carried out a major ambush on the soldiers of District Reserve Guard (DRG) in Aranpur of Dantewada. The Naxalites targeted the vehicle of the jawans with an IED blast, resulting in the death of 11 soldiers and a driver.

The Union Cabinet held a meeting and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed that the Cabinet paid its respects to the soldiers who were martyred in Dantewada.
IG Bastar P Sundarraj confirmed the Naxalite attack and informed that the bodies of the dead are being removed from the spot. Senior officers are present there, and a search operation is currently underway.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed his condolences and said, “This fight is now in its final stage. Naxalites will not be spared.” Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to CM Baghel and assured all possible help to the state government.
Former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh urged for an increase in inter-state joint operation and search operation. He also expressed concern over the repeated claims made by CM Baghel that Naxalism is on the verge of ending.
In light of the attack, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel canceled his visit to Karnataka and will instead visit Dantewada to pay homage to the martyred soldiers and take stock of the situation there. The incident has once again highlighted the need for greater security measures in the region to combat the ongoing threat of Naxalism.
