A horrific road accident occurred in the Balod district of Chhattisgarh, India, on the night of Wednesday, May 4th. A Bolero car carrying 11 passengers collided with a truck on the Kanker National Highway near Jagtra, resulting in the death of all 10 family members and a 1.5-year-old child. The victims were on their way to attend a wedding in Markatola.
According to reports, the collision was so severe that the car was destroyed, and the victims’ bodies were scattered on the road. Among the victims were two children and five women. The Bolero car was traveling from Soram village of Dhamtari to Markatola, a journey of approximately 100 kilometers. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav confirmed the incident and stated that 10 people died on the spot, while one passenger lost his life on the way to the hospital. The deceased were identified as Keshav Sahu (34), Domesh Dhruv (19), Tomin Sahu (33), Sandhya Sahu (24), Rama Sahu (20), Shailendra Sahu (22), Lakshmi Sahu (45), Dharamraj Sahu (55), Usha Sahu (52), Yogansh Sahu (3), and Ishan Sahu (1.5). The bodies of the victims were sent to the hospital for postmortem.
The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, expressed his grief over the tragic incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved family members. He tweeted, “It has just been reported that 10 people have died and the condition of the girl child is critical in the collision between a Bolero and a truck going to a wedding ceremony near Balodgahan between Purur and Charma in Balod. May God give peace to the departed souls and courage to their families. I pray for the recovery of the injured girl.”
