Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel’s Suraji Gram Yojana has proven to be highly advantageous for rural residents, particularly through the implementation of the Bari Vikas Yojana under the Narva, Garuva, Ghurwa, and Bari schemes. These initiatives have played a crucial role in strengthening the rural economy, providing rural families with a sustainable source of income. Many success stories have emerged from the Korea district, where individuals have witnessed the positive impact of these schemes firsthand.
In the Sonhat block’s Kushaha Gauthan, members of the Lakshmi Mahila Self Help Group have cultivated maize and tomatoes under the Bari Vikas Yojana. Anita, a group member, shares her experience of growing tomatoes, stating that she invested only one thousand rupees in the previous season and earned a profit of up to seven thousand rupees. Previously, she would only grow vegetables for domestic consumption, but by joining the group and engaging in large-scale gardening work in the Gauthan, she has found employment opportunities.
Similarly, the women of the Pragati Mahila Self Help Group in Majhaganwa Gauthan, Baikunthpur block, have been improving their economic conditions through bari cultivation. Shamshun Nisha, the group’s president, mentions their involvement in various activities within the Gauthan since the formation of the group. Anjulata, the group’s secretary, shares that they have been developing their bari for nearly ten months. They currently cultivate brinjal, chilli, tomato, aloe vera, and lemongrass. The women have earned a total income of 70,000 rupees by selling these vegetables, and their profits continue to increase. The produce is primarily consumed in local markets. The women express their gratitude to Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel for implementing such a beneficial scheme, as it has empowered them financially and allowed them to meet their families’ needs.
