In a significant move towards addressing housing needs, the Chhattisgarh government has recently launched the Chhattisgarh Rural Housing Justice Scheme. This visionary initiative is set to make a profound impact by providing homes to thousands of families in the state.
Under this scheme, a remarkable 47,090 homeless families identified in the Socio-Economic Survey of 2023, along with 6,99,439 families from the permanent waiting list of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), will receive much-needed support. The state government will allocate funds to facilitate the construction of these houses, making the dream of owning a home a reality for these families.
What’s even more promising is that a total of 10,76,000 beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the Awas Nyay Yojana in the coming years, as the scheme unfolds in a phased manner. This commitment to providing housing reflects the government’s dedication to improving the lives of its citizens.
As a concrete step forward, the authorities have already begun distributing housing approval letters to 30,000 beneficiaries under the Chhattisgarh Rural Housing Justice Scheme. This is a clear indication of the government’s resolve to swiftly implement the program and provide immediate relief to those in need.
Furthermore, the first installment, amounting to Rs 25,000, has been disbursed to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Gramin Yojana. This financial assistance will go a long way in helping families start the construction of their homes.
In another heartwarming gesture, the government has transferred Rs 1 lakh each to the accounts of 500 beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Construction Workers Housing Assistance Scheme. This initiative not only addresses housing concerns but also acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the state’s construction workers.
In addition to housing initiatives, the state’s commitment to holistic development is evident in the inauguration of a garment factory run by a self-help group. This venture not only creates employment opportunities but also empowers local communities.
Lastly, recognizing the importance of forest rights, the government has distributed forest rights certificates to 1,117 beneficiaries in urban areas. This ensures that the rights of those dependent on forest resources are protected, fostering sustainable coexistence with nature.
