In a recent operation conducted by the Chhattisgarh Police in Raigarh, a substantial amount of cash, totaling ₹5,28,130, was recovered from a vehicle during a routine vehicle check operation. The operation was carried out by a joint team comprising Jutmill Police and the Cyber Cell near Orissa Road Badmal.
Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Sadanand Kumar and in alignment with the monitoring of election expenditure and campaigning without permission in the district, the police station and cyber cell teams have been conducting daily searches of vehicles and individuals on major roads in the district.
On the afternoon of November 1, 2023, a joint team of Jutmil Police and the Cyber Cell stopped a Maruti car with registration number CG 13 AQ coming from Orissa for inspection. During the inspection, a bag was discovered in the trunk of the vehicle containing a substantial amount of cash, including ₹500, ₹200, ₹50, and ₹10 notes, adding up to a total of ₹5,28,130.
The individual present in the vehicle, identified as Vikas Aggarwal, aged 40, and a resident of Park Avenue, Bhagwanpur Road, Kotra Road Police Station, Raigarh, was questioned by the police officers regarding the cash found in the vehicle and asked to provide the necessary documents to account for the money. However, Vikas Aggarwal was unable to produce any documents on the spot.
In response to the situation, the Jute Mill Police took seizure action under Section 102 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) regarding the suspicious amount. Vikas Aggarwal was informed that he could retrieve the seized money by presenting the required documents at Room No. 21 of the Collector Office, Raigarh.
Furthermore, the police station in-charge of Jute Mill, Inspector Ramkinkar Yadav, promptly informed the District Election Office about the seizure of the suspicious money, ensuring transparency and compliance with election regulations.
The vehicle check operation was conducted with the involvement of several officers, including Inspector Ramkinkar Yadav, Assistant Sub-Inspector Narendra Yadav, and Cyber Cell Head Constable Rajesh Patel, along with constables Mahesh Panda, Vikram Singh, Naresh Rajak, Suresh Sidar, Ravindra Gupta, and police station Jute Mill constable Jitendra Dubey and Satya Yadav.
The recovery of this substantial sum of cash during the operation highlights the diligent efforts of the Chhattisgarh Police in maintaining law and order and ensuring compliance with election regulations.
