The health department in the state has informed the Chief Medical and Health Officers of several districts that 109 Contract Medical Officers (MBBS) posted in various government hospitals are absent from their place of posting after joining. On February 3rd, notices were issued to all absent doctors, asking them to appear within two days or face disciplinary action. According to the Chhattisgarh Medical, Dental, and Physical Therapy (Physiotherapy) Graduate Admission Rules of the Medical Education Department of the State Government, proceedings for the recovery of the entire bond amount against the absent doctors will be taken in the form of arrears of land revenue. The absent Contracted Medical Officers will not be provided with the No Objection Certificate and will be responsible for all action taken against them as per the rules.
Out of 212 absent contract medical officers, 197 have given their presence at their designated place of posting and deposited the contract amount in the department. The remaining ten medical officers are still absent, and correspondence is being done with the concerned Collector for the recovery of the bond amount against them.
