Chhattisgarh’s newly appointed Governor, Biswabhushan Harichandan, arrived in the state capital Raipur on Monday. He was welcomed at the airport by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other state officials.
On Tuesday, Governor Harichandan visited the Raj Bhavan, where he was given a warm welcome by the staff and employees. His wife, Suprabha Harichandan, and other family members were also present on the occasion. As per tradition, the new governor was greeted with Vedic mantras upon his arrival at the Raj Bhavan.
Harichandan is set to take the oath of office as the 9th Governor of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, February 23, 2023, at 11:30 am. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Raj Bhavan and is expected to be attended by several dignitaries, including Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, members of the ruling party, and other state officials.
The 87-year-old Harichandan was previously the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and has also served as a member of the Rajya Sabha. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, which is expected to benefit the people of Chhattisgarh.
Harichandan’s appointment as the new Governor of Chhattisgarh was announced on February 12, 2023, by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. He succeeds Governor Anusuiya Uikey, who has been appointed as the Governor of Manipur.
