Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has assured that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to providing permanent housing to all eligible beneficiaries in the state. If the central government does not begin the survey of eligible beneficiaries under the housing scheme, the state government will conduct a new survey between April 1 and June 30, 2023. Baghel made this statement while responding to the motion of gratitude presented on the Governor’s address in the Vidhan Sabha today.
Baghel also emphasized the need for updated information on the changes in the lives of common citizens due to the implementation of Central and State sponsored schemes in the last 12 years. He urged the opposition members to meet with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to request the Central Government to conduct the census.
Baghel stated that Chhattisgarh has completed 8,44,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, which is 99.99% of the target. The state is in a better position than other states in the percentage of completion of houses.
He also expressed his gratitude to Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan and highlighted the close relations between Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
Baghel said that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to protecting the interests of the poor, farmers, tribals, scheduled tribes, and women. The state government has sent several proposals to the Government of India, including giving grant on vermicompost produced under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana at par with chemical fertilizers, fixing the minimum support price for Kodo-Kutki crops, declaring the support price of Kodo-Kutki at Rs. 3000 per quintal, and increasing the amount of mandi fee.
Furthermore, he stated that Chhattisgarh has a right to the amount of Rs. 4169 crore 86 lakh as additional levy received from minerals, and royalty rates of coal and major minerals should be increased to provide more revenue to the state. Coal India has been requested to allocate 5 lakh metric tonnes of coal per year to CMBC to make coal available to the local industries of Chhattisgarh.
Baghel emphasized the need for Chhattisgarh to receive the full amount of Rs. 11,828 crore from the central government for the security expenditure incurred on the deployment of central forces in the state. He has urged the Center to match the percentage of the amount given by the Center in various rural development schemes to the amount given earlier.
