Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh – A shocking case of love jihad has recently come to light in Bilaspur district, leaving the community and authorities deeply concerned. The accused, identified as Aqib Javed, allegedly befriended a girl who had moved to the city for work and studies from another district. However, what started as a seemingly innocent friendship quickly took a sinister turn.
According to the victim’s account, Aqib Javed forcibly raped her under the guise of securing a job opportunity. Subsequently, he continued to exploit and assault her by promising marriage and pressuring her to convert to Islam.
The situation escalated when the girl refused to embrace Islam. Aqib, filled with rage, reneged on his promise of marriage and resorted to issuing threats of violence, including death, should she dare to report the incident. In a disturbing twist, the accused even masqueraded as a police officer to intimidate the victim and her family.
Unable to endure the torment any longer, the victim mustered the courage to file a complaint at Sakri police station. Acting swiftly, the police registered a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Aqib Javed, a resident of Kumharpara. The authorities apprehended the accused and are proceeding with necessary legal actions.
Further details reveal that the victim hails from Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi district and had ventured to Bilaspur in pursuit of employment opportunities. It was in 2020 that she crossed paths with Aqib, who lured her with promises of securing a job. Tragically, he deceived her and subjected her to physical and psychological abuse.
The victim recounts a harrowing ordeal where Aqib forcefully engaged in sexual acts despite her objections. The accused, aware of her vulnerable position, exploited his alleged connections to law enforcement to instill fear and maintain control over her.
As the disturbing saga unfolded, Aqib reportedly absconded with the victim’s personal belongings, including her phone, jewelry, and cash. He later claimed to have squandered the money on gambling, demanding the prompt return of the valuables. In a desperate bid to terminate the pregnancy she conceived as a result of the abuse, Aqib coerced the victim into taking medication, resulting in a traumatic miscarriage and prolonged physical suffering.
Throughout the ordeal, Aqib and his family persistently pressured the victim to renounce her Hindu faith and embrace Islam. They claimed that by converting, she could be married off, attempting to manipulate her vulnerability for their own gain. Despite the emotional turmoil, the victim stood firm in her convictions and refused to succumb to the forced conversion.
The arrest of Aqib Javed brings a glimmer of hope to the victim, who can now seek justice for the heinous crimes committed against her. This distressing case serves as a grim reminder of the need for heightened vigilance and efforts to combat such exploitative practices within society.
