Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh – The artistic realm of Chhattisgarh is shrouded in grief following the unfortunate news of the passing of the revered Chhattisgarhi artist, Amrita Barle. A recipient of the prestigious state award and accolades from the President, Amrita Barle, also known as Minimata, breathed her last at the age of 65. The artist had been battling illness for the past two months and was under intensive care at the Medical College’s ICU.
Born on May 2, 1958, in the village of Bathena, within the Patan development block of Durg district, Chhattisgarh, Amrita Barle’s artistic journey spanned from 1970 to 2023. Her melodious and soul-stirring folk songs, often performed alongside the esteemed senior folk singer, Baital Ram Sahu, gained widespread acclaim. These songs include:
- “Tola Bandat Hav Baba, Jai Satnam.”
- “Kaise Karon Main Maya Ke Bakhan.”
- “Where Have the Peacocks of Stale Beauty Gone?”

The final rites for Ms. Amrita Barle will be conducted today at Risali Muktidham, where the artistic community, admirers, and well-wishers will come together to bid a tearful adieu to this celebrated Chhattisgarhi artist.
