In a shocking incident in Bhilai, Durg district, a young man, Amar Dev Rai, attacked his wife and three daughters with a sword. One of the daughters, Jyoti Rai (18 years), lost her life in the attack, while three others, including the wife Devanti Rai (40 years), Vandana Singh (20 years) and Preeti Rai (17 years) were seriously injured. The condition of all three remains critical as they receive treatment at Shankara Medical Hospital.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday, after a domestic dispute between Amar Dev Rai and his wife escalated quickly. According to the police, neighbors reported screams coming from the house, which led them to discover two blood-soaked daughters who were calling for help. The Khursipar police were promptly called to the scene and arrested Amar Dev Rai.
Amar Dev Rai’s son, Abhishek Rai, who was present in the house at the time of the incident, was unharmed. The police are waiting for the son’s mental condition to stabilize before questioning him about the events of that night. The police are conducting investigations and interrogating both the accused and the neighbors.
The house has been sealed, and a forensic team has been called to the scene to gather evidence. Durg SP Dr. Abhishek Pallav, ASP, and CSP Cantonment have arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation.
