Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia sent to Tihar jail till March 20 after CBI custody expires The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) produced former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia before a city court on Monday after his CBI custody expired. Sisodia was then sent to Tihar Jail until March 20. The CBI has accused AAP supporters of ‘politicising’ the matter and may seek further custody of Sisodia in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. During the hearing, Sisodia reportedly alleged that he was subjected to several hours of CBI questioning and dubbed it as mental harassment. Sisodia’s lawyer also argued that keeping him in custody would serve “no fruitful purpose” as all recoveries in the case have been made. He also said that the “inefficiency of the agency” to complete the probe cannot be grounds for remand, as reported by NDTV. The CBI arrested Sisodia last week in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped liquor policy for 2021-22. The agency decided not to seek further custody of Sisodia, leading to his transfer to Tihar Jail. The former deputy chief minister was produced before special judge M K Nagpal. It remains to be seen whether the CBI will seek further custody of Sisodia or release him after March 20.
