Police in Raipur have apprehended four individuals who were attempting to smuggle a large quantity of ganja, a type of cannabis, through the civil line area of the capital. Acting on a tip-off, officers from the local police station intercepted a vehicle with the registration number UP 32 MY 9782, which was suspected of transporting the drugs from Bastar to Raipur via Lucknow.
Upon questioning the four people inside the car, identified as Amarendra Singh Kshatri, Arun Kumar Dwivedi, Vinit Kumar Shivhare, and Kismat alias Deen Mohammad, officers searched the vehicle’s trunk and discovered 30.9 kilograms of ganja worth approximately Rs 3 lakh. The suspects were unable to provide any valid documents or proof of ownership for the illegal substance, leading to their arrest and the confiscation of the ganja.
The vehicle, along with a mobile phone worth Rs 7 lakh, was also seized by the police. The suspects were charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and will face legal action for their involvement in drug trafficking.
