Raipur – Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has strongly responded to the accusations made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing his government’s commitment to the welfare and upliftment of all sections of society. Baghel countered the PM’s claims during a protest against the Gujarat High Court verdict in the defamation case against Rahul Gandhi.
Baghel criticized PM Modi for spreading falsehoods during his recent visit to Raipur. He highlighted the challenges faced by Chhattisgarh under the previous Raman Singh-led government, referring to a 2018 RBI report that ranked the state as the most poverty-hit, malnourished, and with a high prevalence of women suffering from anaemia. Baghel assured that his administration is actively addressing these issues and working towards their resolution.
The Chief Minister accused PM Modi of failing to fulfill his promises, including the much-publicized pledge to deposit ₹15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account and generate employment for 2 crore people. Baghel labeled these promises as unfulfilled lies and criticized the Prime Minister for misleading the people.
Referring to PM Modi’s statement about the Congress taking Gangajal in hand and making promises, Baghel called it a fabricated claim spread by the BJP. He alleged that the BJP circulated false letterheads stating that the government would not procure paddy at ₹2500 and would not waive farmers’ loans. Baghel clarified that Congress had never promised a liquor ban using Gangajal, as wrongly projected by the BJP.
Responding to PM Modi’s comment about Congress being an obstacle to development, Baghel asserted that the Congress empowers people. He highlighted the detrimental effects of the previous Raman Singh regime, citing a decline in agricultural acreage and an increase in farmer suicides. In contrast, Baghel claimed that his government’s tenure has witnessed significant growth in the number of farmers, agricultural production, acreage, and procurement. He accused Raman Singh of engaging in corruption and looting.
Baghel further criticized the central government over alleged scams involving Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, and Mehul Choksi, claiming that they were selling the country to a select few individuals. He denounced the alleged conspiracy against Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family, which he believed the entire nation was witnessing.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel reiterated his commitment to the development and welfare of Chhattisgarh and called out PM Modi’s unfulfilled promises and misleading statements. The political tussle between the two leaders continues as they exchange accusations and counter-accusations.
