Amidst the ongoing inquiry into the illegal entry of Pakistani national Seema Haider into India, a new incident has captured media attention and sparked discussions about the perils and allure of cross-border relationships.
An Indian woman named Anju from Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi district made a daring decision to cross the border into Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region to meet a man she had fallen in love with on Facebook.
Keeping her husband, Arvind, in the dark, Anju planned to rendezvous with her Facebook boyfriend in Pakistan. She informed Arvind that she would be visiting Jaipur for a few days, concealing her true intentions. Arvind was stunned to discover from media reports that Anju had crossed the border into Pakistan. Despite the distance, Anju maintained contact with her family through WhatsApp, and she reassured Arvind in a phone call on Sunday that she was in Lahore and would return in a couple of days.
Arvind admitted to being aware of his wife’s rumored relationship with someone in Pakistan and expressed hope for her safe return.
Both Arvind and Anju are employed, with Arvind working in Bhiwadi and Anju serving as a biodata input operator at a private enterprise. The couple has two children and got married after Anju converted to Christianity to marry Arvind. They, along with Anju’s brother, shared a rented flat in Bhiwadi.
Anju’s journey to Pakistan was filled with hurdles. Under the pretense of visiting Jaipur to meet her 29-year-old Facebook friend, Nasrullah, who worked in the medical industry, she left her home on Thursday. Authorities discovered her presence in Pakistan, leading to her initial arrest. However, after verifying her travel documents, she was released with government protection to safeguard the country’s reputation.
This incident has ignited discussions about the power and risks associated with social media connections, cross-border relationships, and the delicate balance between personal desires and family responsibilities.
The situation remains uncertain as Anju’s fate hangs in the balance, and the consequences of her actions unfold.
