Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to embark on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh, the poll-bound state, on October 28 and 29, 2023. During his visit, the Congress leader is expected to address rallies in various regions, including Bhanu Pratappur, Pharasgaon, and Kawardha. This visit is seen as an opportunity for Rahul to make significant promises in the lead-up to the state’s Assembly election. Additionally, he will engage with other Congress leaders and workers during his visit.
In a separate development, ahead of the Assembly election in five states and the anticipated Lok Sabha elections next year, the Congress party has put up a hoarding outside its state headquarters in Lucknow, projecting senior leader Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister in 2024 and Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Ajay Rai as the Chief Minister in 2027. The hoarding’s message reads, “2024 main Rahul, 2027 main Rai, Desh Pradesh Bol Raha Hai, Haath Ke Saath Aayen” (Rahul in 2024 and Rai in 2027, say India and UP, join hands with the Congress). This display of aspiration comes in response to a similar hoarding outside the Samajwadi Party office proclaiming Akhilesh Yadav as a Prime Ministerial candidate.
When asked about the hoarding, Ajay Rai played down its significance, describing it as an expression of the aspirations of Congress workers. He emphasized that the party’s primary goal is to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister of India, while acknowledging that predicting events in 2027 remains uncertain.
