In a significant development in the ongoing crackdown against illicit betting activities, Raipur Police has taken aggressive action against the operators of the Mahadev Betting App in 2022. The persistent efforts of law enforcement authorities have not only resulted in the removal of the Mahadev Betting App from the Playstore but have also led to legal proceedings against its main operators, Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, who were operating from Dubai.
The investigative journey began when Raipur Police corresponded with Google, urging the removal of the Mahadev Betting App from the Playstore. Subsequently, Google took swift action in 2022 and removed the app from its platform, curtailing its reach and accessibility.
Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, the two key figures behind the Mahadev Betting App, are now facing legal charges filed by Raipur Police in the local case. Moreover, in June, a Look Out Circular was issued against the accused, signaling the gravity of the situation.
Raipur Police’s proactive approach in addressing this issue is commendable. The force has filed a total of 36 First Information Reports (FIRs) against the Mahadev Betting App and its operators, making it clear that illegal betting activities will not be tolerated.
The crackdown extended beyond the borders of Chhattisgarh, as Raipur Police conducted operations and raids in various states and cities, including Katni, Anuppur, Visakhapatnam, Orissa, Delhi, Goa, and Maharashtra. Panel operators involved in the operation were apprehended, with a total of 235 accused arrested. The investigations led to the seizure of hundreds of mobile devices and laptops, while more than 500 accounts associated with the illegal betting app were frozen.
