In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor transportation, Raipur Police have arrested two individuals near the iconic Ram Janaki Temple located in Hirapur under the jurisdiction of Kabirnagar police station. The arrest took place following a meticulous operation that resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of contraband liquor.
The accused were found in possession of a staggering 192 pauvas and 14 bottles of English liquor. Additionally, the vehicle used for this illicit activity, a Scorpio bearing the registration number CG/04/LW/7626, was impounded by the authorities.
The total estimated value of the confiscated liquor, locally known as Mashrooka, amounts to approximately Rs 8,40,000/-. This significant seizure highlights the extent of the illegal liquor trade that often operates under the radar.
In response to this unlawful activity, the Kabirnagar police station has registered a case under Crime number 163/23, invoking Section 34(2) of the Excise Act against the arrested individuals. The Excise Act is in place to regulate and control the production, possession, and distribution of alcoholic beverages, ensuring public safety and revenue collection.
