The Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has made the decision to observe a ‘dry day’ on January 22, coinciding with the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. CM Sai, addressing reporters in the state capital, emphasized the significance of the occasion, highlighting Chhattisgarh’s pride as the maternal birthplace of Lord Ram’s maternal grandparents, with Chandkhuri revered as their home.
Expressing the state’s deep reverence for the upcoming consecration in Ayodhya, CM Sai mentioned, “Chhattisgarh being associated with Lord Ram’s maternal roots is a matter of great fortune for us. As the consecration of the Ram temple approaches on January 22, the entire state will be immersed in fervor. Similar to Diwali celebrations, households will be adorned with lamps. In line with this, the Chhattisgarh government has resolved to declare January 22 as a dry day throughout the state.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 22. Preparations for the sacred event are set to commence a week earlier, starting January 16, with Vedic rituals led by priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit from Varanasi, who will oversee the main consecration rituals.
To honor the occasion, a grand 1008 Hundi Mahayagya will be conducted, offering meals to thousands of devotees. Ayodhya is preparing for an influx of devotees, setting up tent cities to accommodate the expected surge in visitors. The Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust aims to accommodate 10,000-15,000 people during the ceremony.
Local authorities are diligently coordinating enhanced security measures and logistical arrangements to ensure a safe and spiritually enriching experience for the multitude expected to partake in the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony.
