The freshly installed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Chhattisgarh, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, is set to convene its inaugural cabinet meeting on Thursday. Sai, along with deputy chief ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, assumed office following a grand swearing-in ceremony graced by a crowd of approximately 50,000 attendees, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other prominent BJP leaders.
Post the oath-taking ceremony, Sai, along with his deputies, commenced their official responsibilities at the Mantralaya after performing customary rituals. The trio engaged in discussions with the state’s chief secretary Amitabh Jain and Director General of Police Ashok Juneja during their initial interactions.
Chief Minister Sai, addressing reporters, confirmed the scheduled cabinet meeting on Thursday. He highlighted an introductory session planned with department secretaries, followed by a subsequent press briefing. When queried about key priorities for the cabinet meeting, Sai emphasized the BJP’s electoral promises and commitments outlined in their manifesto, indicating that these would be subjects of discussion to set immediate priorities.
Expressing a focus on the promises made in their electoral manifesto, Sai indicated discussions on the ‘Modi ki guarantees’ in the cabinet session, implying that these pledges would likely be focal points of deliberation to determine priority initiatives.
Previously, upon being elected as the BJP legislature party leader, Sai had underscored that the sanctioning of 18 lakh houses for beneficiaries under the PM Awas Yojana would be the foremost agenda for the state’s administration.
