The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at 15 locations in Delhi and Patna on Friday, including the homes of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughters, as part of the ongoing investigation into the land-for-job scam.
Sources indicate that the ED team also conducted raids at the residence of former RJD MLA Abu Dozana, who is a builder by profession. The agency is investigating a case in which government officials allegedly received land in exchange for providing jobs in the railways during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister.
Lalu Prasad Yadav’s troubles seem to be increasing with each passing day as he faces questioning by multiple agencies in different cases. Just two days ago, he was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi.
Reports suggest that the ED team also raided the Delhi residence of Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
The ED’s raids come at a time when Bihar is in the midst of assembly elections. The RJD, led by Lalu Prasad Yadav, is one of the major contenders in the polls. However, these raids could have a negative impact on the party’s prospects.
Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently serving a sentence in the fodder scam case and is out on bail on medical grounds. He has been barred from contesting elections due to his conviction in the case.
The ED’s investigation into the land-for-job scam has been going on for several years now and has already resulted in the arrest of several people, including Lalu Prasad Yadav’s close aide, Prem Chand Gupta.
As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen what further revelations will come to light and how they will impact Lalu Prasad Yadav and his political career.
