Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh – A devastating fire broke out at Budhwari Bazar near Bilaspur railway station in Bilaspur city, resulting in the complete destruction of approximately 55 temporary vegetable shops. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, causing significant losses for the affected vendors. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

According to Bilaspur district collector Saurabh Kumar, the fire engulfed around 55 temporary vegetable shops at Budhwari Bazar, a bustling market known for its vibrant trade. Most of these shops were constructed using tarpaulin or fibre sheets, providing an affordable solution for the vendors.

No casualties were reported as firefighters swiftly responded to the scene and battled the flames that rapidly spread across the market. The fire was eventually brought under control, but not before causing extensive damage to the temporary shops.

The precise cause of the fire remains unknown, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. Officials are working to ascertain the factors that led to the outbreak and determine whether any safety lapses were involved.

The affected vendors now face the daunting task of recovering from the significant losses incurred. The district administration has formed a team to assess the damages, and compensation will be provided to the affected vendors in accordance with established procedures.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of temporary markets and the importance of robust fire safety measures. It also highlights the need for increased awareness and preparedness to prevent such incidents in the future.

Authorities are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation and implementing necessary measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring. The local community and authorities will collaborate to support the affected vendors in their recovery efforts.
