The discovery was made in ward number nine Maheshpur of Katghora and Rampur and Nawagaon located near it. The land-serious team has already started the survey work to identify the extent of the Lithium reserves.

The discovery has fueled the ambition of the Chhattisgarh government, which is now working on auctioning the Lithium block found in the hills of Katghora Manguru.
The state government has already sent a proposal to the Central Government for approval, and the Center has assured the state government that it is taking concrete steps to make the Lithium block worth auctionable. The survey work is underway, and after the completion of the process, the Central Government is expected to give its approval to auction the Lithium block.
This discovery was also raised in Lok Sabha last year, where MP Deepak Badge had asked the Central Government about the mineral blocks proposed for auction by the Chhattisgarh government. The Central Government had responded that the Chhattisgarh government had proposed a list of 36 mineral blocks for auction, which included a Lithium block located in the Manguru hills in the Katghora area of Korba district.
