In a recent session of the Lok Sabha, TMC leader Mahua Moitra sparked controversy after using a harsh word during Ram Mohan Naidu’s address. According to the uncorrected text of the discussion available on Lok Sabha’s website, Moitra said, “Kitne harami bante hain… Kitne mahaan… aapko to pata hoga…” Her use of language drew objections from several members of parliament who demanded an apology.
The Chairperson of the Lok Sabha noted the concerns and referred the matter to the Speaker, saying, “No harsh word need be used in the House, that too, offensive word should not be used. When it has been used, as we all know, I will request the Leader of the concerned Party and the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs to consult and take an appropriate decision.”
In response to the incident, BJP leader Prahlad Joshi said, “As directed, I will speak to the Leader of the Trinamool Congress Party. But the word — which was made known to me — was very unfortunate. Courtesy demands that she should apologize. If she does not apologize, then I will leave it to them because ultimately, it shows their culture. That is all, Sir.”
Mahua Moitra has faced criticism in the past for her behavior on social media and her use of unfiltered language. This recent incident has once again drawn attention to her controversial behavior and has raised questions about the appropriateness of language used in Parliament.
