Mungeli District Education Officer (DEO), Savita Rajput, has faced suspension due to her failure to promptly allocate arrears to teachers, even after funding was provided by the District Panchayat.
Delayed Arrears Payment: The District Panchayat had released Rs 1 crore 52 lakh 98 thousand 214 on January 13, 2023, to pay teachers’ arrears. Despite repeated correspondence on February 2, February 24, March 1, and March 13, 2023, requesting certificates of payment, the funds were not allocated on time.
Blame Shift and Suspension: A show-cause notice was issued to Savita Rajput on May 16, but her response, blaming block education officials, was deemed unsatisfactory. Consequently, she was suspended for negligence in performing her duties. During her suspension, her responsibilities were temporarily transferred to the office of the Joint Director of Education, Bilaspur.
This action comes as a result of the DEO’s perceived failure to ensure the timely allocation of arrears to teachers, affecting their financial well-being.
