Chhattisgarh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Transport Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, has been actively pursuing innovative initiatives to enhance public convenience and streamline traffic arrangements. The state government’s commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged and economic upliftment has borne fruit, with more than Rs 2 lakh crore being directly transferred to the bank accounts of the people in the state through various NYAY schemes in the past five years. This has resulted in a thriving economy, bustling villages, cities, and markets, with a surge in vehicle purchases even before the festive season of Navratri and Dussehra-Diwali.
The convenience of buying and selling vehicles has contributed to a continuous rise in motor vehicle registrations in the state. In September 2022, 30,597 motor vehicles were registered, while in September 2023, this number has surged to 42,186, marking an impressive increase of approximately 37.88 percent in vehicle registrations compared to the same month in the previous year.
According to Commissioner Transport Shri Dipanshu Kabra, the Raipur Regional Transport Office witnessed the highest number of registrations, with 8,645 motor vehicles registered from September 2022 to September 2023 across the state. Other regional transport offices also reported substantial registrations, including 2,128 in Surguja, 3,187 in Bilaspur, 3,589 in Durg, and 1,215 in Jagdalpur.
Moreover, district transport offices contributed to the surge in vehicle registrations, with 1,049 in Baikunthpur, 688 in Balod, 1,391 in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, 655 in Balrampur, 574 in Bemetara, and varying numbers in other districts across Chhattisgarh. These registrations encompass a wide range of vehicles, including tractors, ambulances, buses, e-rickshaws, goods carriers, harvesters, taxis (cabs), motorcycles, and heavy vehicles, signifying robust economic growth in the state.
