In a significant move ahead of the anticipated Lok Sabha elections next year, the Congress party underwent a substantial organizational reshuffle, appointing new leaders to pivotal roles and relieving individuals from existing responsibilities.
The Congress announced Sachin Pilot as the Chhattisgarh in-charge, emphasizing his strategic role in steering the party’s initiatives in the state. This appointment coincided with the relief of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from her position as AICC in-charge of Uttar Pradesh. Avinash Pande has been named as her successor, entrusted with the task of leading the party’s operations in Uttar Pradesh.
Furthermore, senior Kerala Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has been assigned the crucial role of AICC in-charge of Maharashtra, signifying the party’s intent to bolster its presence in the state.
The organizational shake-up continued with Deepa Dasmunshi’s appointment as the AICC in-charge of Kerala and Lakshadweep. Additionally, she was bestowed with the additional responsibility of overseeing the Congress affairs in Telangana.
Notably, GA Mir has been appointed as the General Secretary of Jharkhand, assuming an instrumental role in the party’s activities in the state. Mir has also been entrusted with the additional charge of West Bengal, showcasing the Congress’s focus on amplifying its presence in these regions.
Formerly in charge of the Chhattisgarh Congress, Kumari Selja has been reassigned to oversee the party’s affairs in Uttarakhand, marking a strategic realignment of leadership responsibilities within the party.
The reshuffle comes on the heels of the Congress party’s recent electoral setbacks in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, where it faced a significant defeat and lost power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh during the Assembly elections earlier this month.
The revamped organizational structure underscores the Congress’s commitment to revitalize its strategy, optimize leadership potential, and strengthen its footing as it gears up for the impending Lok Sabha polls.
