In a recent development, Chhattisgarh police have successfully cracked a case involving a stolen vehicle and arrested the suspect. The incident came to light when a resident of Nehru Nagar, Bhilai, reported that an unknown thief had broken into his house on the night of September 23, 2023. The thief had stolen gold and silver jewelry valued at Rs 60,000 from the house.
Following the complaint, a case of theft was registered at the Supela police station and an investigation was launched. The Superintendent of Police, Mr. Shalabh Kumar Sinha, along with the Additional Superintendent of Police, City, Mr. Sanjay Dhruv, and City Superintendent of Police, Bhilai Nagar, Mr. Vishwadeepak Tripathi, provided instructions to resolve property-related crimes rapidly, ensuring a 100% recovery of stolen property.
During the investigation, the police scrutinized CCTV footage from the surrounding area, which showed a suspiciously parked car with a Maharashtra license plate, a Volkswagen, located behind the applicant’s house. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle, with license plate number M.H. 01 AE 3482, was stolen and used during the theft. The car was found parked in the Universal Kausa Flat No. Jupiter A/902 parking lot under the jurisdiction of Mubra Police Station in the Thane District of Maharashtra. The suspect, Salman Shaikh, also known as Mohammad Lal Babu, was apprehended along with the stolen vehicle.
Salman Shaikh was subsequently sent to the Central Jail in Durg on judicial remand on October 10, 2023. The successful resolution of this case was attributed to the diligent efforts of Inspector Durgesh Kumar Sharma, In-Charge of Supela Police Station, and officers Pankaj Chaibe and Souni Purna Bahadur from the ACCU (Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit), as well as Constables Pankaj Kumar, Upendra Yadav, and Jugnu Singh.
