In a determined effort to combat terrorism, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, has resumed its anti-terror operation in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district. This follows a tragic incident where Indian Army personnel and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) lost their lives during a gunfight with terrorists in the same region.
The fallen officers, identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and DSP Humayun Bhat, displayed unwavering courage and leadership while confronting terrorists in Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Colonel Manpreet Singh was the commanding officer of the Rashtriya Rifles Unit, specifically the 19 RR.
Kashmir Zone Police paid solemn tribute to these brave individuals and their relentless valor in the face of adversity. The security forces continue their resolute efforts in an ongoing operation to apprehend two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) terrorists, including Uzair Khan.
The last rites for DSP Humayun Muzammil Bhat were conducted in Budgam, as the nation mourns the loss of these courageous officers who led from the front in the fight against terrorism.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his deep sorrow over the officers’ demise, emphasizing the entire nation’s solidarity with their grieving families. The sacrifice of these heroes is a testament to their dedication to maintaining peace and security in the region.
