Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel, participated in an appreciation event organized by beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Special Health Assistance Scheme. The event took place at the Advanced Cardiac Institute in Mekahara, the capital city.
During the program, patients and their families who received financial assistance through the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme expressed their appreciation to Chief Minister Baghel. This scheme provides financial aid of up to Rs 25 lakh for medical treatment.
The program also saw the presence of dignitaries including Parliamentary Secretary Vikas Upadhyay, Chhattisgarh Housing Board Chairman Kuldeep Juneja, Advisor to the Chief Minister Ruchir Garg, and medical professionals like Dr. Preeti Nagaria, Dr. Smith Srivastava, and Dr. Rakesh Gupta.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel acknowledged the progress made in healthcare in Chhattisgarh and highlighted the expansion of healthcare facilities even in remote forest areas of the state. He mentioned that Chhattisgarh’s government hospitals now have world-class equipment and facilities.
Chief Minister Baghel assured that all necessary resources and modern equipment would be provided to strengthen the Advanced Cardiac Institute in Mekahara, Raipur.
He emphasized the seriousness and complexity of heart diseases, noting that treatment is often expensive and challenging. Baghel mentioned that the state has tried to address these issues by launching schemes like the Dr. Khubchand Baghel Health Assistance Scheme and the Chief Minister Special Health Assistance Scheme.
The Dr. Khubchand Baghel Health Assistance Scheme covers 69 lakh families in the state and has approved claims totaling Rs 3643 crore 09 lakh and 36 lakh 43 thousand so far. Under the Chief Minister Special Health Assistance Scheme, Rs 25 lakh of financial assistance is provided, and assistance worth Rs 79 crore 57 lakh has been approved for 02 thousand 643 patients.
Chief Minister Baghel also highlighted the significance of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Hospital in Raipur, serving both Chhattisgarh residents and those from neighboring states. Plans include expanding the infrastructure with the construction of a seven-story super specialty hospital costing Rs 325 crore.
