Raipur, Chhattisgarh – In alignment with the government’s determination to curb the inflow of smuggled liquor from neighboring states and clamp down on illegal liquor transactions, Senior Superintendent of Police Prashant Aggarwal has issued directives to all police gazetted officers, station in-charges, and the heads of anti-crime and cyber units in Raipur.
Under these directives, officers have been tasked with investigating and taking action against those involved in the illicit buying and selling of liquor. To execute this mission effectively, police gazetted officers across Raipur, as well as the Anti Crime and Cyber Unit, have been actively gathering information through various channels, including informants.
On October 3, 2023, the Anti Crime and Cyber Unit received a tip that a stash of liquor had been left unattended near the village of Khandwa, within the jurisdiction of Rakhi police station. Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Neeraj Chandrakar, Additional Superintendent of Police Crime Pitambar Patel, and City Superintendent of Police Atal Nagar Nava Raipur Jitendra Chandrakar promptly verified the tip and instructed the in-charge of the Anti Crime and Cyber Unit, along with the Rakhi police station in-charge, to take immediate action.
The joint team from the Anti Crime and Cyber Unit and Rakhi police station arrived at the designated location and discovered several boxes of Goa brand English liquor left unattended along the roadside. The team seized a total of 20 boxes of the liquor, with an estimated value of approximately Rs 1,50,000. A case (Crime Number 174/23) was registered under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act against unknown individuals at the Rakhi police station.
Authorities are diligently pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the culprits involved in this case.
